The Panel Topic

Betting on the North: Energy Security and the Case for Canadian Oil and Gas

After two decades of unconventional development, Canada is entering a new phase. Consolidation is reshaping the upstream landscape, LNG access is changing the outlook for Canadian natural gas, and operators are increasingly competing for capital within broader North American portfolios.

This panel brings together perspectives from operators, capital markets, technical evaluation, and industry research to examine how Canadian oil and gas competes today, and what could shape its position in the next era of North American energy development.

Expect conversations around:

  • How Canadian inventory competes with remaining U.S. unconventional opportunities
  • The quality and depth of remaining Canadian drilling inventory
  • Where the Montney and Duvernay fit within the North American resource landscape
  • What drives capital allocation across Canadian and U.S. portfolios
  • How consolidation and M&A are reshaping Canadian development
  • How the market values Canadian inventory relative to underlying asset quality
  • The impact of LNG exports and improved market access on Canadian natural gas
  • The role of infrastructure and takeaway capacity in unlocking additional value
  • How development strategies and completion intensity are evolving on both sides of the border
  • What “Shale 3.0” means after 20 years of unconventional development
  • The factors that could shape Canada’s share of North American energy investment over the next decade
